Scout Picks: GW15

Gameweek 15 marks the halfway line through the season and the big news is, of course, the departure of Aslak Fonn Witry. Djurgården’s fullback ended his season on 108 points, 9 points clear of second placed Magnus Eriksson. With every other defender coming in cheaper than Witry, this can be a great time to redistribute some funds.

Lucas Hägg Johansson 5.7m
Lucas Hägg Johansson is always a good goalkeeping option on the fringes of most fantasy managers thoughts. Sitting in roughly 9% of all squads, Johansson has averaged 4.9 points per game through 5 clean sheets, 9 save points, and 17 defensive bonus points. Kalmar now faces Halmstad at home, a team who have scored just twice in their 5 last games.

Björn Paulsen 6.6m
Four straight 8-pointers has been the result for those electing to put their faith in Björn Paulsen from the moment he became available for selection. The attacking Hammarby defender has goal threat, some assist threat and apparently also a predisposition for defensive bonus points, gathering 6 out of the maximum 8 available so far. The game against Elfsborg should be a tight one and Paulsen could be needed to make a difference, just like he did at home to Norrköping in GW12.

Alexander Milosevic 6.6m
Alexander Milosevic has rarely been seen as a prolific scorer of goals but 2 goals in 4 games lately has caught the eye of plenty fantasy managers looking to make a switch from the departed Aslak Fonn Witry. It is clear that the crossing abilities of Sebastian Larsson is doing wonders for Milosevic who is getting fond of creeping up on set pieces to try to get a header in. No slouch for bonus points either (2 offensive and 7 defensive bonus points so far, with 7 “close calls” where he was just a single clearance or ball recovery away from bonus), Milosevic could benefit from the increased stability likely provided by the new goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt

Mohanad Jeahze 6.2m
A double up in Hammarby defence is a rare thing to see and make no mistake, the inclusion is primarily based on attacking output along with bonus points. Mohanad Jeahze has 1 goal, 4 assists, 9 offensive and 5 defensive bonus points on the season, and is becoming increasingly influential in the Hammarby attack, setting up chances for the midfielders and strikers while bombing down the left-hand side. Scoring a goal and racking up 2 assists in midweek will have done wonders for his confidence as well.

Magnus Eriksson 9.6m
With Aslak Fonn Witry leaving the club it puts an even bigger onus on Magnus Eriksson to carry Djurgården’s attack. Spot kick duties is up for grabs and Eriksson has taken 18 penalties in his career, and scored all of them. Away to Mjällby tends to be a tricky fixture for Djurgården traditionally, but having been taken for a ride against AIK, Djurgården needs to seriously up their game if they want to challenge for the title.

Tashreeq Matthews 5.4m
Tashreeq Matthews continues to put up impressive numbers, now sitting on 3 goals, 2 assists, 4 offensive and 2 defensive bonus points just from the 6 games played since the summer restart. Varberg now face Örebro at home, a team with just 2 clean sheets all season.

Daleho Irandust 8.9m
The inclusion in last weeks Scout Picks did Daleho Irandust little harm, as he slotted home a nice goal in the frustratingly classic 59-minute appearance, just 1 minute away from two more points. With minutes becoming increasingly encouraging each week (27, 33, 45, 59), Irandust now travel to a shaky Degerfors to try to build up his fitness and attacking output after a lengthy spell on the side-lines.

Veljko Birmancevic 8.3m
Picking Malmö players is becoming a very problematic issue for most fantasy managers, as they can and will get rotated on a regular basis while the European games continue. At home to Göteborg however, Veljko Birmancevic should have a decent chance of getting a start as Malmö could be targeting next week’s fixture against Degerfors for a more intense rotation policy. Birmancevic has 4 goals, 3 offensive and 1 defensive bonus point in his last 4 games in the league, despite limited minutes.

Sebastian Larsson 10.1m
AIK’s set piece specialist Sebastian Larsson is in great form, having recorded 2 goals, 3 assists, 4 offensive and 3 defensive bonus points in his 4 last games. Larsson has only missed out on bonus points in 2 of the 12 games he has features in for AIK this season.

Nicolás Stefanelli 7.8m
Nicolás Stefanelli has now scored 2 goals, 1 assist and managed 1 offensive and 2 defensive bonus points in his last 2 games. While his heat map continues to look more like a midfielder than a forward (which could be good for bonus though), the shot count and overall threat has looked better again. Away to Sirius could be a watershed moment for Stefanelli in terms of his prospects as a fantasy player going forward this season.

Samuel Adegbenro 7.9m
Having scored a late consolation goal at home to Kalmar in GW14, Samuel Adegbenro could well reap the benefits of Christopher Nyman edging back to fitness, even if the pair is unlikely to get 90 full minutes together this week. Norrköping travel to Östersund who just got tore apart 5-0 against Häcken last week.

Captain Pick

Every week in the Scout Picks, a captain is selected from the 11 chosen players. The Captain Pick is meant to give some guidance into who has the biggest potential for points this Gameweek and who looks relatively safe, according to the Scout.

This Gameweek the Captain Pick is Magnus Eriksson who will be needed more than ever to make an impact for Djurgården, as they slowly adapt to life without Witry. The bonus points he gathers sets a nice floor, while goals and assists make promises of a high ceiling as well.
