Scout Picks: GW19

While the Gameweek 19 fixture Hammarby-Varberg tends to generate goals traditionally, the Scout is growing increasingly impressed with he Varberg defence who have conceded just 2 goals from their 7 last games, and as a result, that game is avoided altogether in this week’s picks. Norrköping-Örebro however looks like it has the ingredients needed for a trashing, while Malmö-Djurgården could be a cagey affair which usually ends up with low scores.

Goalkeeper
Malkolm Nilsson Säfqvist 5.2m

Halmstad’s shot stopper Malkolm Nilsson Säfqvist has been a solid option all season, averaging just above 5 points per game and rising 0.7m in the process. This Gameweek he is up against Kalmar at home, where Halmstad have conceded just 4 goals in 8 games, keeping clean sheets to Malmö and Djurgården in the process.

Defenders
Johan Larsson 8.1m

Slowly coming back to life and entering the thoughts of some managers longing for the glory days of Aslak Fonn Witry, Johan Larsson has scored 25 points in his 4 last games. 2 clean sheets, a goal, an assist, and 3 offensive bonus has been recorded in that time for Larsson who now travel to an out of sorts Östersund side.

Erick Otieno 6.7m

On the verge of becoming a permanent fixture in the Scout Picks, almost at the point of exclusion for the sake of promoting variance, Erick Otieno is just too good to pass up. 31 points in his 5 last appearances, Otieno is, as mentioned previously, mostly getting by on clean sheets and defensive bonus points at the moment. A home fixture against Göteborg won’t be a walk in the park, yet a strut or even breaking into a half-hearted jog should still see the AIK defence get their usual reward in terms of bonus points – at the very least.

Edvin Kurtulus 5.0m

Halmstad defence has been impressive all season and while Nilsson Säfqvist sits comfortably in roughly a third of all squads, Edvin Kurtulus is still owned by less than 10% of all managers. Averaging 4.1 points per game, Kurtulus has given the impression during the year that he could contribute to even bigger hauls, should Halmstad’s attack ever get ticking.

Midfielders
Jonathan Levi 8.5m

We banged the drum last week for Jonathan Levi’s rise up the ranks and it turned out that even Malmö weren’t able to contain the in-form midfielder. With a goal, 2 assists, and 3 offensive bonus points recorded in his 3 last appearances (1 off the bench), Levi is looking very enticing ahead of a good run of fixtures for Norrköping.

Sebastian Larsson 10.2m

While he rarely hauls, Sebastian Larsson has taken a page from Magnus Eriksson’s book with regards to maintaining a steady floor thanks to bonus points. 18 offensive and 10 defensive bonus points from 15 appearances is staggering, and at home to Göteborg he will be looking to continue AIK’s solid streak of 2 draws and 7 wins in their 9 last games.

Patrik Wålemark 6.9m

Patrik Wålemark is still a very young player, prone to bursts of incredible form intertwined with periods of quite a bit of anonymity. Despite getting minutes in one way or another in all games this season, his 3 goals and 7 assists have all come in just 6 games (4 of which were double digit hauls). In a rich vein of form now then seemingly, Wålemark entertains Mjällby who are conceding 1.4 goals a game on their travels.

Alexander Bernhardsson 5.0m

With returns in all his 5 last games, it is incredible to see potential budget gem Alexander Bernhardsson still sitting in just about 5% of all squads. Granted, his lack of bonus points appeal is only heightened by the fact he is far from nailed, even if his minutes have been steadily increasing from 16 and 35 to 84 last time around, yet taking into account his price tag and Elfsborg’s fine form (with no European commitments to worry about), Bernhardsson looks like a great enabler for those in need and the trip to Östersund should prove fruitful.

Forwards
Alexander Jeremejeff 9.4m

Alexander Jeremejeff has scored 3 goals and 1 assist in his 5 last appearances, with 2 tricky away fixtures to AIK and Elfsborg included in that run. At home to a more obliging Mjällby defence, Jeremejeff looks primed to stake his claim for challenging Adegbenro for the golden boot this season.

Samuel Adegbenro 8.3m

Speaking of Samuel Adegbenro, Norrköping entertains an Örebro side shot for confidence after losing 3-0 at home to Varberg in Gameweek 18. Örebro have won just 1 of their last 10 games (3 all season) and Nahir Besara and Jiloan Hamad have so far failed to ignite any real spark into the club who is flirting intensely with a one-way ticket to the second tier. Adegbenro has managed returns in 6 out of his 7 last games and it would appear highly unlikely that Örebro are able to keep him quiet this Gameweek.

Christoffer Nyman 9.9m

Back from injury, Christoffer Nyman has scored 3 goals in his 4 last games, as well as missed a penalty away to Malmö in Gameweek 18. With 10 shots in his 3 last games, Nyman could very well be in for a nice final third of the season.

Captain Pick

Every week in the Scout Picks, a captain is selected from the 11 chosen players. The Captain Pick is meant to give some guidance into who has the biggest potential for points this Gameweek and who looks relatively safe, according to the Scout.

This Gameweek the Captain Pick is Jonathan Levi who has been denied by the woodwork 3 times in his 2 last games. The goalposts are very familiar to him this week however and as they are guarded by an Örebro defence that have conceeded 18 goals from the 10 games since the summer restart, Levi should likely be in for some big points this Gameweek.
